Real Estate Tax Assessments Cut by $1.9 Million

Howell Township assessed our client taxes totaling $1,423,300 for the 2010 tax year. We appealed the assessment and secured an agreement with the Township to reduce the assessment to $950,000 for 2010 and $700,000 for 2011 and 2012. The Township honored the agreement for 2010 but reneged in 2011. We appealed. The appellate court found in a case of first impression that the agreement was enforceable outside of county tax court. The result: We saved our client more than $1.9 million in tax assessments over three years.
